Week 12 - 2010

Class 5A: Beaumont West Brook
Beaumont West Brook had one of the weekend’s biggest upsets when the Bruins intercepted a pass in the final seconds to secure a 26-21 win over state-ranked Fort Bend Hightower. West Brook quarterback Bruce Reyes threw for 310 yards and a touchdown. West Brook (9-3) advances to face Katy Cinco Ranch in the Division I Region III semifinals.

Class 4A: Medina Valley
Medina Valley came up with a huge defensive performance in a 14-0 win over powerhouse Corpus Christi Calallen. Medina Valley held Calallen to 168 total yards. Medina Valley (11-1) advances to face Kerrville Tivy in the Division II Region IV semifinals.

Class 3A: Sinton
Sinton sophomore running back Keith Garcia ran for 82 yards in a driving rainstorm in his first varsity start to help the Pirates to a 13-12 win over Pearsall. Sinton (11-1) advances to face Brookshire Royal in the Division II Region IV semifinals.

Class 2A: Comfort
Comfort entered the playoffs 5-5 but has now won back-to-back playoff games after knocking off Hempstead, 23-10. Comfort (7-5) advances to face George West in the Division I Region IV championship.

Class 1A: Springlake-Earth
Springlake-Earth shut down a powerful Seagraves offense in the second half en route to a 33-14 victory. Springlake-Earth scored the game’s final 33 points after falling behind 14-0 early. Springlake-Earth (11-1) advances to face Stratford in the Division II Region I semifinals.

Six-Man: Miami
Miami, which was 4-6 last year, kept its turnaround season alive with a huge offensive performance in a 114-69 win over Chillicothe. Miami (11-1) advances to face Motley County in the Division II Region I championship.

Private Schools: Houston St. Pius
Houston St. Pius forced six turnovers en route to a 42-28 win over San Antonio Central Catholic in the TAPPS Division I state quarterfinals. St. Pius (9-2) advances to face Fort Worth Nolan in the state semifinals.
