Three major coaching hires

As it is known to do, the high school coaching landscape shifted considerably this week when three well-known institutions decided to make their final call on a new had coach.
Temple has hired Abilene Cooper coach Mike Spradlin, a savvy choice for the long-suffering program. Temple, once a state power, has been on hard time for years now, but Spradlin, who just took cooper to a shared district title in the LSWC, is a bright offensive mind, tireless promoter of his kids, and friendly face that comes off well to the media. He's been both successful and gregarious, and when you're trying to rebuild your football team, that's a fine way to start.
Buda Hays and Gregory-Portland have both hired, as well, and Hays' choice is also a good one — Pilot Point's Blake Feldt, who just won a state title against Kirbyville two years ago. Feldt is an aw-shucks kind of guy that has a history of strong offenses, and his personality is going to be a great fit after the long career of Bob Shelton. Every news story I've read has not confirmed whether Boone, Blake's son, will be transferring to Hays for his senior year, but you'd kind of have to expect that's the case. Boone is a national recruit along the offensive line.
And G-P has hired Austin Westlake DC Matt Anastasio, a 1990 graduate. Still in his 30s — that's a pretty nice job for his age! Should be a good fit, especially with the community.
