Keith Wright retires

South Garland coach Keith Wright has announced that he will be retiring this offseason.
Wright, who is one of the nicest men I've worked with during my tenure at DCTF, came from 2A Farmersville, where he won a title in his final season before taking the South Garland job. That 2A title run is one of the most memorable in some time, with his star TE catching the winning touchdown in the back corner of the endzone with almost no time left.
Wright then came to the Colonels and immediately put them in the postseason with a strong running game and defense. They also played into the playoffs this year, too. He'll be missed.
Also, idalou coach Johnny Taylor has announced he will be retiring as well. Not only has Taylor been at Idalou since 1989, he just won the school's first-ever state title with a win over Lexington in the 2A DII championship game. Two legends of the game, both stepping down.
