Since the magazine’s inception on a kitchen table in Waco in 1960, 53 images have graced the cover of the annual summer edition of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. Widely known as “the Bible of Texas football”, there are few greater honors in Texas football than to be on the cover of the state’s preeminent authority on all things football at the high school, college and pro level. DCTF has always strived to make its summer cover an accurate reflection of the state of Texas football – the biggest stars, the biggest stories, the biggest entities in football in Texas.

Today, we are delighted to add a 54th to that illustrious history.

Today is the day that Dave Campbell’s Texas Football will reveal the cover of its 2013 summer edition. Per tradition, the magazine’s cover subject is kept under tight wraps – at this moment, no more than 20 people have seen the cover.

The cover subject will join a long an illustrious line of legends in an elite fraternity of DCTF coverboys. From Darrell Royal and Grant Teaff, to Spike Dykes and Jack Pardee, from R.C. Slocum to Ricky Williams, from Kliff Kingsbury to Gary Kubiak, from Gary Patterson to Colt McCoy, the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football cover is more than just the front of a magazine: it’s a unique and storied tradition of excellence.

At 11 a.m. CT today – Friday, June 14 – we will reveal the cover image. We’ll spread the word on TexasFootball.com, as well as our Facebook and Twitter accounts.

At noon, we’ll release a new edition of the DCTF Podcast. In it, managing editor Travis Stewart and associate editor Greg Tepper will discuss the process of making the cover, as well as other topics from around Texas, including an exclusive interview with new Plano East head coach Randy Jackson.

Today is a Texas tradition unlike any other, and we’re honored to share it with you.
