Dave Campbell's Texas Football reveals the cover of the 2014 Winter Edition.

 By TexasFootball.com

It was a season of iconic images for the Baylor Bears. Now, they can cap off an historic 2013 with one more.

Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty and the Big 12 champion Baylor Bears grace the cover of the 2014 Winter Edition of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, which will hit newsstands across Texas on January 24 and is available for pre-order on TexasFootball.com.

Storming into the national spotlight behind an electrifying offense and vastly improved defense, Baylor captured its first Big 12 title in 2013, finishing 11-2 and reaching a BCS bowl for the first time in program history.

That was good enough to earn coverboy status on the Winter Edition of “the Bible of Texas football.”

“DCTF has always prided itself on putting the biggest story in the state on the cover,” said Greg Tepper, editor of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. “And though there are some other tremendous stories across Texas – like Rice’s Conference USA title and North Texas’ return to prominence – there’s no question that in the Lone Star State, 2013 was the Year of the Bear.”

The second image on the cover: new Texas coach Charlie Strong, who takes the reins in Austin after the end of the 16-year Mack Brown era. Other mentions on the cover include tremendous seasons from Rice and North Texas, the end of the remarkable career of Johnny Manziel, and Allen quarterback Kyler Murray taking top billing in DCTF’s annual All-Texas High School Team.

Some of what readers can expect in the 2014 Winter Edition of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football:

-The cover story on the remarkable – and historic – season for the Baylor Bears, written by the Houston Chronicle’s David Barron.

-Comprehensive season recaps for each of the 12 FBS teams in Texas, including superlatives, grades for each unit, top impact recruits for 2014 and questions going forward.

-Comprehensive high school football recaps, from 5A down to six-man, including district MVPs for each district, final rankings by classification and an early look at rankings for 2014.

-The All-Texas High School Team – DCTF’s version of the high school All-American team – honoring the very best players from the 2013 Texas high school football season across all classifications.

-The All-Texas College Team, honoring the best college players at each position across the state of Texas.

-An expanded recruiting section, ranking the top 10 prospects in Texas at every position for the Class of 2014.

The magazine will also be available digitally for iPads, iPhones and Android devices, with digital extras like an exclusive photo section of Baylor's tremendous season, in-depth podcasts from the staff of DCTF and more.

The 2014 Winter Edition of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football  is the most complete recap of the 2013 football season that you can find anywhere. The counterpart to the wildly popular summer edition – which will publish its 55th annual edition in June – the Winter Edition has been an annual tradition since 2008.

Past coverboys include Texas A&M coach Mike Sherman, Texas Tech wide receiver Quan Cosby, Texas wide receiver Jaxon Shipley, the 2011 Rose Bowl champion TCU Horned Frogs, 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III and, last year, 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel.

The 2014 Winter Edition of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football will hit newsstands across Texas on January 24 and is available for pre-order on TexasFootball.com.
