DCTF's 2012 Texas College Power Poll — Week Seven
| # | School | Last Week Rank |
| 1 | Texas Tech Red Raiders | 4 |
| Adam Hochfelder: Amazing, complete performance by the Red Raiders. Lubbock used to be known solely as the place where other teams' seasons go to die. I think this year might make Lubbock a place where the best team in the state hails from. | ||
| 2 | Texas A&M Aggies | t-2 |
| Greg Tepper: The Aggies got my first place vote this week, because they have the state's best playmaker (Johnny Manziel) and they've passed almost every test put in front of them. I still think this is a flawed team -- especially defensively -- and I'm not sure this Saturday's game against LSU will go their way, but I still think the state's best team resides in College Station. | ||
| 3 | TCU Horned Frogs | 5 |
| Brad Hilliard: A lot of people thought TCU’s season was over after they lost their starting quarterback. A lot of people also think Dane Cook is funny. | ||
| 4 | Baylor Bears | t-2 |
| Jake Shaw: Baylor simply can't afford an off day by the offense. | ||
| 5 | Texas Longhorns | 1 |
| Adam Hochfelder: Worst beatdown in an (alleged) heavyweight bout since Larry Holmes beat Randall “Tex” Cobb. The 'Horns are dropping down this poll fast, and we cannot see the bottom yet. | ||
| 6 | Houston Cougars | 7 |
| Brad Hilliard: Don’t look now, but the Cougars may be on their way to finishing this season very strong. | ||
| 7 | Rice Owls | 12 |
| Jake Shaw: Hopefully the Owls saved some defense for its game at high-flying Tulsa. | ||
| 8 | North Texas Mean Green | 10 |
| Greg Tepper: Alright, Mean Green: I've been singing your praises all year about how much better you look. Time to turn that promise into some victories. | ||
| 9 | Texas State Bobcats | 11 |
| Adam Hochfelder: Nice win over the Vandals. Thinking Fran’s decision to come back to Division I coaching is looking pretty good right about now | ||
| 10 | UTEP Miners | 9 |
| Brad Hilliard: The Miners started the season with so much promise, but they have seemed lost since the conference schedule started. | ||
| 11 | UTSA Roadrunners | 8 |
| Greg Tepper: Perspective is important when it comes to a young program like UTSA, and it'll be especially important as the Roadrunners' schedule only gets tougher from here. | ||
| 12 | SMU Mustangs | 6 |
| Jake Shaw: Saturday's loss to lowly Tulane is simply inexcusable. | ||
