It's shaping up to be a big year for Kerrville Tivy, which won four playoff games in 2009 to reach the Class 4A-DII state semifinals.
Quarterback Johnny Manziel returns for his senior season, and he is as unstoppable as any quarterback in the state.
We'll get our first chance to see Manziel again during this summer's 7-on-7 season, when the two-way threat will focus on the passing game. Manziel threw for 2,900 yards and 19 TDs as a junior, and he also had 1,550 yards rushing and 34 TDs.
Tivy has a nice stable of wide receivers, led by junior Braedon White, who could be a star in the making. White had 34 catches for 465 yards as a sophomore. He'll be joined in the receiving corps by Sean Kibbett,
The 7-on-7 season gets started in May, with the first state tournament qualifiers taking place on May 22. The state championships are July 8-10 in College Station.
