Lunchtime Thoughts

It's About Time
I knew it would happen eventually, but I wasn't quite sure just when. Well, it's finally happened (to the first time of my knowledge) -- there's a female head football coach out there. And if you read the full story linked here -- which gives a nice story from 2006 about her job as an assistant -- it should be pretty obvious that Natalie Randolph is cut from the right cloth. This immediately sparked a number of questions in my head. First, willt he players buy in? Because she could be the best damn coach in America and still lose if the players won't give her the time of day. The Washington Post seems to think she's got their heads on straight. I'm hoping she's a huge success. I know plenty of women who could talk me to death with Xs and Os. It's about time they get their shot.
Southlake has a new QB
Maybe it's cheating to keep the FBS streak alive at Southlake Carroll -- where the list of continual college recruits at quarterback seems never ending (David Piland, Riley Dodge, Greg McElroy, Chase Daniel, etc.) -- but the Dragons have picked up a transfer from the Oklahoma area named Daxx Garman. Garman, a junior, missed a portion of last season after being declared ineligible over his transfer papers. But his talent is undeniable, and he's already pledged out to Arizona (hence the FBS streak comment). Since Southlake seems to be without a clear-cut starter under center, this is a key pickup for a program with district title aspirations.
White has transferred, too
In case you haven't noticed, TCU pledge Cameron White, a skilled wide receiver, is now being listed as a DeSoto player and not an Arlington Bowie one. That's because he's transferred out fromt he Vols and is off to enjoy the talents of excellent passer Ryan Polite. That's a duo worth watching this season.
Online subscriptions available
After our Extreme Access subscriptions started off disabled in our online store, they are up and ready for purchase. Remember -- if you buy a year-long subscription, you'll get both the annual summer magazine (June release) and winter magazine (February release) before they actually hit store racks, with no action needed on your part. It's a subscription service, plain and simple. Doesn't get much easier than that! Check back with our store often, as we're going to be adding in additional magazines and products continually over the next two weeks. Looking for a hard-to-find back issue of the magazine? We might be the best place to look.
