Week 0 co-winners: Decatur RB Matt Huddleston and McKinney Boyd QB Daryn Alves

In high school, whenever you have a high-scoring, one possession football game, someone probably went home a hero. That's just the way high school goes -- no where else can one player so dramatically hoist a team onto his back and carry them to victory.

In Week 0, it happened twice.

Both Matthew Huddleston, a running back from Decatur, and Daryn Alves, the quarterback for McKinney Boyd, were sensational last week in guiding their teams to heart-stopping victories: Huddleston's 280 rushing yards and four touchdowns were just enough to lift the Eagles to a 45-42 victory over Dallas Madison and Alves' 456-total yard, four-touchdown performance provided a 27-21 win against McKinney North.

Their respective fan bases were so appreciative, the two were voted into a dead-even tie and as such open the high school season as co-Dick's Sporting Goods Players of the Week. Congratulations to both Daryn Alves and Matthew Huddleston on their individual performances, team victories and new accolades.

Week One's candidates will be announced on Monday, Sept. 8.
