Ganders Win Mascot Bowl

Some imaginitive fans out there have said before that Texas High School football should be more like Indiana High School basketbal, in that schools from all classifications would compete for one true state championship. Well, for the past week those fans have had their way, as the Mascot Bowl champions from classes 1A-5A went head to head to decide the overall Mascot Bowl champions.

With just over 32% of the fan vote, the Baytown Lee Ganders can now call themselves the overall champions of the 2007 Texas Football Mascot Bowl. The Battlin' Billies of Fredericksburg, who will be playing in the Toyota Tundra Texas Football Classic in September, finished second with 28% of the vote. The Cuero Gobblers, Hamlin Pied Pipers and Mason Punchers rounded out the field.

Thank you to all the fans who voted and helped make the first-ever Mascot Bowl a success.
