Baylor to open practice

Baylor kicks off spring practice Tuesday, and Bears fans are eagerly awaiting reports on the health of QB Robert Griffin.
Griffin missed most of the 2009 season with a torn ACL. He's expected to be back healthy and ready to go this spring, which could mean a repeat of last year's pre-season headlines when publications (including Dave Campbell's Texas Football) were touting Baylor as a bowl contender. Baylor hasn't played in a bowl game since 1994 and hasn't won one since 1992.
Griffin's return will be a big spark on the offensive side, which would then turn the attention to the defense. Can the Bears replace All-Big 12 linebacker Joe Pawelek and safety Jordan Lake? Those are two tough holes to fill, but the defense should still be solid with six returning starters, including both cornerbacks (Tim Atchison and Chance Casey).
Another player to keep an eye on this spring: OT Robert Griffin. The other Robert Griffin is a behemoth (6-foot-6, 345 pounds) from Navarro College, and he'll be counted on to anchor an offensive line that must replace four starters.
