Rice hires new AD
Rice hires new AD
2010-03-12

By Dennis Hall / Texas Football ... Rice is in the midst of spring practice, but the big news late this week is the hiring of athletic director Rick Greenspan.

Greenspan most recently was AD at Indiana, and previously served in the same role at Army and Illinois State. Rice scheduled a press conference for 10 a.m. today to formally announce Greenspan's arrival.

Greenspan resigned from Indiana in 2008 after the Hoosiers received NCAA sanctions for violations by former men's basketball coach Kelvin Sampson.

Greenspan has earned a reputation as an excellent fundraiser. In four years at Indiana, he was able to raise money for significant renovations to the football and basketball facilities.

He replaces Chris Del Conte, who had been a popular leader for the Owls before leaving last year to fill TCU's vacant role. TCU's Danny Morrison had left to take a job with the Carolina Panthers.
