Power Poll -- Week 12
By the TexasFootball.com Staff
No. 1 in our Power Poll had an easy time with a pushover. But Nos. 2-5 battled amongst themselves for positioning, with particularly surprising results.
What did it do to our Power Poll, our weekly ranking of the 12 FBS programs in Texas? Let's take a look.
DCTF's 2012 Texas College Power Poll — Week Eleven
|#||School||Last Week Rank|
|1||Texas A&M Aggies||1|
|Greg Tepper: I hate to be Debbie Downer, but I'm not sure Johnny Football is the Heisman lock that everyone presumes him to be (and that I think he should be). I think people are underestimating the Notre Dame love-fest that the national media is about to descend upon the country.|
|Adam Hochfelder: Flat Stanley has a new book out. It's called "Flat Texas."|
|t-2||TCU Horned Frogs||5|
|Jake Shaw: The Frogs are seemingly at their best when everyone counts them out.|
|Brad Hilliard: On the verge of losing a number of offensive playmakers to graduation, the Bears appear to have found another in Lache Seastrunk.|
|5||Texas Tech Red Raiders||t-3|
|Greg Tepper: While that's a disappointing loss to Baylor, it's hard to view Tech's season as anything but a step in the right direction. Now, about replacing that quarterback...|
|Adam Hochfelder: Rice is going to a bowl game likely with its 6th win. Great save for David Bailiff.|
|Jake Shaw: June Jones might've secured his job with that win over Tulsa.|
|Brad Hilliard: It was a perplexing year for U of H, and the confusion will not subside with their new place in the Big East’s quizzically-named West Division next year.|
|Greg Tepper: Honestly, the only reason UTSA isn't ranked above teams like Rice and SMU in the Power Poll is because they're not bowl-eligible. What a remarkable year for the Roadrunners, and perhaps a sign of big things to come.
|10||North Texas Mean Green||9|
|Jake Shaw: Hopefully this was just a sophomore slump for Dan McCarney.|
|11||Texas State Bobcats||10|
|Adam Hochfelder: Ouch. Fran lost to Larry Coker. Last decade, that had BCS implications. Not so much now.|
|Brad Hilliard: The Price era in El Paso certainly had its high moments, but his retirement will open the door for a much-needed fresh start for the Miner program.|
