Power Poll -- Week Ten

Gee, who do you think will be at the top of the Power Poll this week? Perhaps the team that just beat the No. 1 team in the nation, on the road?

On to our Power Poll, our weekly ranking of the 12 FBS programs in Texas.

DCTF's 2012 Texas College Power Poll — Week Ten

# School Last Week Rank
1 Texas A&M Aggies 1
Adam Hochfelder: You simply have to marvel at the 10-2 season Texas A&M is very likely to finish with in 2012. It is not unwise to ponder the likelihood that Johnny Football's team is likely to win an SEC title, Heisman Trophy and national championship at some point in the next three years.
2 Texas Longhorns 2
Greg Tepper:

Beating a suddenly undermanned Iowa State team at home doesn't necessarily impress me, but the Longhorns deserve all the credit in the world for their opening play, lining up in the Wishbone to honor Darrell K Royal. Somewhere, Coach Royal is grinning.

3 Texas Tech Red Raiders 3
Brad Hilliard: After becoming the latest member of the “narrowly defeated Kansas” club, the Red Raiders travel to Stillwater in what may be a battle for a Valero Alamo Bowl berth.
4 TCU Horned Frogs 4
Jake Shaw: The offense just couldn't match the defense's strong effort against the Heisman frontrunner.
5 Baylor Bears 5
Adam Hochfelder: I did not expect such a good effort on the road by Baylor, who came up short vs OU. And "coming up short" is a good way to describe the Bears bowl efforts.
6 SMU Mustangs 6
Greg Tepper: A rare -- and very welcome -- complete effort from the Ponies against lowly Southern Miss this week. And this week's game at Rice represents their best chance for bowl eligibility, considering the Mustangs close against C-USA West frontrunner Tulsa.
7 Houston Cougars 7
Jake Shaw: UH has now lost three of four, those losses coming by an average of 28 points per game.
8 Rice Owls 8
Brad Hilliard: David Bailiff and the Owls have had this past weekend off to ponder their current two-game win streak and how to parlay it into a bowl berth if they can win their next two.
9 North Texas Mean Green 10
Adam Hochfelder: Winning a Sun Belt game at home is a good step towards building toward 2013.
10 Texas State Bobcats 11
Adam Hochfelder: Sure, they came up short, but the Bobs get a bump in my Power Poll because they gave a ranked Louisiana Tech team all they wanted on the road. The defense wasn't good (LaTech will do that to you), but how about that offense of RB Marcus Curry and QB Shaun Rutherford?
11 UTEP Miners 9
Jake Shaw: The end of the Price era draws nearer.
12 UTSA Roadrunners 12
Brad Hilliard: Coach Coker’s Roadrunners have learned how to win this year, a valuable lesson that they’ll need heading into Conference USA next fall.
