Switch on offense

Joseph Duarte wrote this morning in the Houston Chronicle that former Cy-Fair star RB — and original Michigan signee — Sam McGuffie is moving from the backfield to wide receiver for the Rice Owls this season. There's probably a caveat with that; McGuffie, who was highly reruited as a preps star, will still take some carries for coach David Bailiff. But the intent is less to solidify him at one spot as it is to diversify the way the Owls can get the ball into the playmaker's hands.

JUCO/CC signees
Posted by Travis Stewart on 22 December 2011
Wednesday was the start of the JUCO and CC player signing period, meaning, for the first time in this class, kids can actually sign letters of intent for their future programs. Three in-state programs reported signing JUCO and CC players yesterday, including Texas, which almost never utilizes players beyond the high school level. Texas Tech, ravaged by injuries last year and hurting for depth, signed a whopping seven. And it could had been eight, had one player not defected for Oklahoma at the last moment.
